Gerald "Jerry" L. Barnswell Obituary

Gerald L. “Jerry” Barnswell, 89, residing in Sandusky passed away Saturday peacefully surrounded by family. Jerry was born on November 13, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Ruth (Schwinden) Barnswell. Jerry was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, the Amvets post #17 and the American Legion post #83. He retired from the former Foodtown in Sandusky after 21 years of service in sales. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. Jerry enjoyed gardening, watching game shows, the simple things in life, but most enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by two daughters, Diane Rohrbacher and Suzanne (William) Mckillips both of Sandusky; two sons Kenneth (Pamela) Barnswell of Toledo and Gerald (Debbie) Barnswell Jr. of TN; eleven grandchildren Jerry, Sam, Amy, Kenny, Andy, Kris, Brianne, Theresa, Duane Jr., Jenna and Corey; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Including his parents Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Theresa Frances (Lauer) Barnswell in 2019. Private family graveside services will be held for both Jerry and his wife Theresa in Meadow Green Memorial Park. The Pastor Jerald Fenske will officiate.
