Mrs. Janice Stephania Hall O’Dell, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. O’Dell was born in Surry County on May 31, 1942 to the late Charles Reid Hall and Hattie Ayers Hall.  Nana was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed by all her many friends and family.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter-in-law, Faith O’Dell McCreary; two grandsons, Joey and Nikki O’Dell, and Roby and Traci O’Dell; two precious great-grandchildren whom she adored dearly, Kaylee Grace O’Dell and Colton Roby O’Dell; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Dorothy Hall, Mickey and Betty Hall, Charles and Britta Hall, Ray Donnell and Tanya Hall, and Timmy and Jill Hall; and eight special nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. O’Dell was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Gray O’Dell, Sr.; her son, Michael Gray O’Dell, Jr.; and a grandson, Reid O’Dell McCreary.  A celebration of Nana’s life will be held on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy at 2:00 PM with Brother Sammy Lawson officiating.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and all her special caregivers, especially to Betty Hall for all the love and care.
