Mr. Sammy Lee Mitchell, age 72, of Dallas, GA passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Villa Rica, GA. Sammy was born in Rockmart, GA on April 10, 1948 a son of the late Sam Moody Mitchell and the late Lillian Leach Mitchell. He had lived in the Polk and Paulding County area all of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of U.S. Can of Tallapoosa, GA. Sammy enjoyed assembling model cars and listening to gospel music. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cathy Mitchell on July 3, 1996, by a brother, Duell Mitchell, a sister and brother in law, Floy and George Hayes and a brother in law, Leon Blackmon. Survivors include his wife, Melanie Mitchell, Dallas to whom he was married on November 28, 1996; sister, Faye Blackmon, Carrollton; sister and brother in law, Jeanelle and Ronnie Bearden, Rockmart and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorial graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Ronnie Gober officiating. The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Sammy Lee Mitchell.
