Luevenia Clardy Waco, Texas Obituary

Luevenia Clardy

Luevenia Clardy (BaBa) was born on Friday, April 7, 1950 in Waco, Texas to loving parents of Leroy and Carrie Shelby. Luevenia was known by all as “BaBa” and grew up in a loving Christian home full of laughter. She was the third daughter of four siblings.

Her mother instilled in her the love of learning and being a caretaker for all that were in need. She had a love for animals and would take in any lost or hungry animal. Luevenia was an example of selflessness and never spoke an ill word. Her smile would light up a room and her spirit would warm your heart. BaBa was known for memorizing entire family members birthdays and would always call or send a card to them.

BaBa always made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. She was the family his- torian and took her role with grace. Luevenia kept the family history going for generation to generation. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a love for children and was the caretaker of nearly every one of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. BaBa was a second mother to her entire family. Each child’s life that she touched was blessed to have known an Angel on earth. BaBa would teach the chil- dren in her care and love them just like they were her own. BaBa’s life was the definition of “love thy neighbor”. No matter what she was dealing with personally with her own health, she always put others first.
BaBa was known for her great cooking abilities. She had numerous signature dishes and desserts and would spoil her family with all her meals. Luevenia was a devoted caretaker for her mother and never left her side.

Luevenia began her education in Waco public schools and was a proud member of the A. J. Moore High School Class of 1969. She was an active member of The Hood Street Church of Christ and attended regularly until her health declined. BaBa’s humble and sweet spirit will be missed by all.

Luevenia Clardy was preceded in death by both of her parents, her oldest sister, Charlene Clardy-Gibbs, and a nephew Clarence Iglehart.
She is survived by her loving sister, Linda Clardy-Iglehart of Waco; her two brothers, Woody Clardy (Glenda) of Waco and David Clardy of Missouri City. She also leaves behind to carry on her traditions a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and many friends. Luevenia’s life was one well lived. She provided much joy, laugh- ter and love to all who knew her. Her smile and spirit will forever remain in our hearts, until that great getting up, morning when we meet again.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my Soul to keep
If I should die before I 'wake,
I pray the Lord my Soul to take. Amen.
