Gloria Violet Deck 76, of Columbus Township, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, at her home. She was born in Detroit, August 30, 1944, the daughter of the late Lionel and Dorothy (Whitmore) Dean. Her marriage to James Deck was August 4, 1962, in Mt. Clemens. Gloria was a L’anse Cruese High School Graduate and had worked over ten years as a secretary for Comcast. Gloria had attended clown college where she was taught how to make balloon animals. She had learned sign language and enjoyed quilting and visiting casinos. Gloria loved the television game show Jeopardy so much, she had a full game board in her garage, where she and family would play at holiday gatherings. Gloria was a good person and a loving grandmother. Surviving in addition to James, her husband of 58 years, are four children, Cimberly (Lenny) Hild of Columbus Township, Carin (Brian) Klingenberg of Clay Township, Brenda (James) Strachan of Berlin Township and James Deck of Clinton Township; six grandchildren, Cayla (Jared) Ebel, Cendra (Miles) Venette, Brian (Julie) Klingenberg, Eric (Sarah) Klingenberg, Justan (Nicole) Strachan and James (Amanda) Strachan; nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Jackson, Liam, Eli, Aiyana, Jayden, Mia, Joshua and Zoe, as well as a niece, two nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Judy Lema. The family honors the memory of Gloria and invites you to visit and share memories Friday, September 11, 2020, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Inurnment will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery, Clinton Township. Memorials are suggested to “Wishes of the Family”. In accordance with the current executive order from the Michigan State Governor, only ten individuals are allowed in the building at once for a funeral visitation or service and masks are required. We will do our best to provide funeral services while keeping our families safe.
