Robert Lee Geisler
<p>Robert Lee Geisler, born January 5, 1939 in Baltimore, MD, left the dock on his final voyage September 5, 2020. The son of the late Luther Perry Geisler and Naomi May Eminizer, he is survived by his brother, Luther P. Geisler II and his wife Peggy, nephew Luther P. Geisler III and his wife Lori, niece Peggy Mae Geisler, daughters Patricia Lee Ware and husband Mathew, daughter Jeanne Lynn Geisler, and granddaughters Lillian Catherine Starr, Harriet Martha Starr, Caroline Grace Ware, and Virginia Jane Ware. He was preceded in death by infant daughter Valerie West Geisler. Robert (Bob, Bobby, Capt. Bob) was the owner of Geisler Point Marina. He was the lifelong owner and sole proprietor of R.L. Geisler Marine Maintenance Inc., an avid waterman, and captain of many vessels over the years, including his pride and joy tugboat the Jeanne G and his pleasure boat the What Next. Bob left primary school during 8th grade to help care for his mother Naomi after the death of his father. He took odd jobs on and around the water, working hard at what he loved. At the age of 18 he was called up for military service and entered the Coast Guard along with his longtime friend Pete Brunk who told him “Bobby, you get to be on a boat!” Bob served on a lightship for the Coast Guard from June 28, 1957 until June 29, 1961 when he transferred to the Coast Guard Reserve. It was then he bought his first pile driver and began to build his marine contracting business. A self starter and determined, he built things that lasted. Bob Geisler was a hard worker always ready with an interesting story about his life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, seafood, and collecting artifacts from his salvage jobs. He saw the value in everything. You may have often found him searching for some forgotten object in his garage, frying oysters, steaming crabs or lounging in his waterfront home enjoying the view. Although he enjoyed his privacy and silence was golden, he was often the center of attention at a gathering. A good host and a good judge of character, Bob was loved by many and feared by some. He will be dearly missed.</p> <p>A celebration of life is being planned for the future due to COVID-19.
