Loris, South Carolina Mrs. Claris Carol Cox, age 88 , passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 in Loris, SC following an illness. Mrs. Cox was born on August 19, 1932 in Loris, SC, to the late Everette Guy Cox and the late Maggie Geneva Bellamy Cox. Mrs. Cox was the owner and operator of Loris Seafood and Oyster Roast until her retirement, a loving homemaker, and a longtime member of Loris First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her two daughters, Deborah Cox Harris Strait and husband, Jim of Loris, SC, Myra Cox of West Union, SC; son, Edwood “Eddy” Dale Cox of Loris, SC; six grandchildren, Gabe Smith and wife, Michelle, Michelle Carter Williams and husband, Duff, and Everette Long and wife, Leslie, Riley Cox, Chandler Cox and Easton Cox; ten great-grandchildren, Kaylyn Huffman and husband, Ryan, Gage Smith, Garrison Smith, Kierstin Smith, Cole Long, Dalton Long, Decklan Williams, Aniston Williams, Tyler Yancey, and Joshua Yancey, and one brother, Everette Earl Cox and wife, Judy of Loris, SC. Mrs. Cox was predeceased by her loving husband, Edwood “Ed” Wade Cox; grandson, Shane Smith; two brothers, Jerry Lee Cox and Herbert B. Cox, Sr., and sisters, Frances Cox Benton and Betty Arrant. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Hardwick Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Twin City Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bruce Adams officiating.
