Charles Lynn Travis Obituary

A come and go visitation is planned for Lynn Travis on Monday, September 7, 2020 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home from 6-8:00 pm. A private family viewing and graveside service will be held at a later date. Charles Lynn Travis was born February 7, 1956 just outside of Wills Point TX, the son of Walter Raymond Travis and Ozella Rea Travis. He was a member of Myrtle Springs Baptist church until 1977, when he moved to Athens and joined Modoc Missionary Baptist Church. Lynn surrendered to the ministry and was licensed to preach in 1995 and he considered it his honor and privilege to serve his Lord when needed. His service included acting as assistant pastor at Maranatha Baptist Church in Crandall, and also served as a supply minister at various churches when called upon. At his home church of Modoc, he served to fill the pulpit in the absence of the pastor, and also taught the Adult Sunday School and BTC classes for many years. Lynn received a BBA in accounting from Texas Eastern University in Tyler in 1979. His career in accounting included positions at various companies, while also maintaining Travis Consulting. He later received an MBA in accounting from Texas A&M Commerce. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Kenneth Raymond Travis and brother Dale Travis. Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janis Marshall Travis; son Anthony Travis and wife Amanda of Plano; two grandchildren Jackson and Riley Travis; brothers James, Don, Ronnie, and David Travis and several nieces and nephews. You are all angels, and we love you.
