Annette Pope Obituary

Annette Pope, 71, of St. Helena Island, SC passed away Saturday, Sept. 05, 2020, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. She was the mother of Ernestine (Trina) Pope, of Jacksonville, Fl. and Dwayne Pope, of Atlanta, Ga. Viewing Friday, September 11, 2020, 5-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home (Beaufort Chapel). Graveside Service Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 10 am at First African Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Helena Island, SC. Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort in charge.

Annette Pope was born on September 14, 1948. She was the daughter of Queenie Mae Pope and Alex Smalls of St. Helena Island, SC. She received her education in  Beaufort County public schools.  She was a 1967 graduate from St. Helena High School. Shortly thereafter she moved to New York, where she started a career in the medical field as a CNA. After returning back to St Helena Island she became a member of First African Baptist Church on St Helena Island, SC.

Throughout her life, she was dedicated to her family. 

Annette Pope departed this life on Saturday, September 5, 2020, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her beloved parents.

 Annette leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Ernestine Pope of Jacksonville, FL;  a son Dwayne Pope of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Essie Mae Pope of Bronx NY, Queen J. Holmes, Glenda F. Johnson both of St. Helena Island SC, Julie Hubbard of Columbia SC, Irene Moore of Greenville SC, Sarah Woods of St. Helena Island SC, Theresa Walker (Gerald) of Columbia SC, Ethel Johnson of Bradenton FL, Louise Jones (Roy) of Whitaker NC, Julia Mae Smashum of Jacksonville FL; Brothers, Josephus Johnson of Coppers Cove TX, William Johnson (Debra) of Burton, SC, Ernest Johnson of St. Helena Island, SC, John Smalls (Laverne) of St. Helena Island SC, Frank Smalls (Louise) of Enterprise AL, Robert Smalls (Martha) of Columbus GA, James Smalls (Francina) of Aiken SC, Harold Smalls (Laurie) of Germany, Micheal Smalls (Cynthia) of St. Helena Island SC, Micheal Simmons of Atlanta GA; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
