Mauna Pat Kerswell Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Mauna Walker Kerswell, passed away at her home September 4, 2020.

Mauna was born in Rigby, Idaho, on November 19, 1948, to Gail and Pat Walker. She was born the second oldest of five children. She was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School in 1967. She then attended and graduated from King Lawrence Beauty School in Rexburg. In 1969, her home was blessed with her first child Ray Young and then in 1972 another son Torey Young was born. They lived from Blackfoot to Rigby throughout the boys growing-up years. She worked at various occupations including 15 years at the INL where she retired. Then in 2013, she met and married the love of her life, Terry Kerswell, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They enjoyed performing with The Old Time Fiddlers, serving a mission at the LDS Humanitarian Center, and spending time with her three dogs. 

She is survived by her husband, Terry; children, Ray (Janel) Young of Sugar City, Idaho, Torey (Nichole) Young of Kuna, Idaho; three sisters, Peg (Ren) Kauer, Becky (Dean) Swallow, Nelda (Rick) Mullins; and her grandchildren, Tyler, Jerika, Kinlee, Kaizik, Naomi, and Ethan; and her bonus grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gail and Pat Walker, and her brother, Kail.

A graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery in Jefferson County, Idaho. If you are attending, please bring a chair. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Mauna Kerswell Memorial Fund c/o Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue.
