Carolyn Hays Evans

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Hays Evans. Carolyn, 81, of Signal Mountain, peacefully passed away on Thursday August 27 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. She was born March 29, 1939 in Knoxville TN, graduated from East High School in Knoxville and Sulllins College in Bristol TN. Carolyn had a creative and gifted nature, she was an artist, seamstress, enjoyed arts and crafts and was an accomplished musician and flutist, who played with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra for several years. She had a spirit that would light up a room, a deep love for children and enjoyed working with young people. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Kenneth and Beatrice Hays and her sister Patricia Hays. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Jan Evans, daughters Elizabeth Evans, Patricia Miller, her brother and sister in law, Tom and Kay Hays of Knoxville and grandchildren Jeffrey, Tyler, AJ. Carolyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She sprinkled generosity, love, kindness, and wisdom upon everyone she met. She was a consummate care giver “mother to the world” who will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. To all whose lives she touched a celebration of life will be held at a later date when it is possible to gather to joyously remember her and honor her spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and family consider donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Hude Place Memphis, TN 38105, an organization that she held dear to her heart. Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home and Cremation Center (423) 821-7551. Please share your memories, stories and photos at www.wannfuneralhome.com
