Ruby Kaye Phillips

Ruby Kaye Phillips, age 95 of Carrollton, entered her heavenly home Saturday, September 5, 2020. She was born February 22, 1925 in Troup County, Georgia, daughter to the late Arthur Lee Turman, Sr and Susie Moody Turman. She was joined in union February 12, 1944 to her late husband Marion S. Phillips of 63 years. She was a homemaker and raised 13 wonderful children and will be missed dearly. Mrs. Ruby lived with her parents and family for a short while when she was a young girl in Stateline, Alabama. After marriage, she had 3 children in the state of Georgia. In 1949 she and her husband moved to Eastern part of North Carolina and had 11 more children. She was a godly woman and love serving the Lord. While living in Eastern North Carolina she attended Beautiful Valley Baptist Church in Wyse Fork, North Carolina. She enjoyed her family and stood by her late husband side as he worked and traveled in Virginia, Washington DC, and Delaware for many weeks at a time as a General Contractor and Brick Mason. She helped farm the land and garden in his absence with her children. She had a deep love for her family, along with passion for cooking. She was a fantastic cook with recipe that will be passed on. After living in Wyse Fork, Jones County, Grifton/Kinston and Ayden, North Carolina for 31 years, her husband decided it was time to move back to Georgia. In 1980 they moved to Carrollton, Georgia. In her time there she attended and became a member of Roopville Baptist Church, and later moved her membership to her home church of King Street Christian Church in Carrollton. She is remembered singing and humming gospel tunes around the house. She had the gift of gab and had a bright smile when she spoke of her children and her husband. She told everyone that she came in contact with of her 7 sons that served in the Military (Army, Air Force, Navy) and all returned home safe. She would write letters to them all when they served and traveled in 6 Continents the world seas and oceans. She equally boasted on 3 of her daughters and 1 son that are nurses as well as all the nurses in her family. Her memory was long and she always told many memories of her childhood to her kids. She help raised and took care of several grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed having a big birthday party every year. She has traveled from Boston, Massachusetts to St. Petersburg Florida and all points in between to witness her grandchildren graduations from High School and College. She will be missed dearly, and all her teachings, sayings, and life advice will live on in her family of 4 generations that she leaves to celebrate her life.
