Mother Louis "Valley” Jefferson

<p>Mother Louis&nbsp; &quot;Valley&quot; Jefferson, 83, transitioned on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Baptist-DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, MS.&nbsp;</p> <p>Louis &ldquo;Valley&rdquo; was born June 21, 1937 in Red Banks, MS to the late Mamie Watson Kinkle and Robert Kinkle.</p> <p>Louis &ldquo;Valley&rdquo; worked at Byhalia School Cafeteria for 28 years. She was a member of the Mighty Princess for over 30 years. She was a member of the Taylor Chapel prayer warriors. She loved to&nbsp;sing and cook. She truly loved welcoming everyone into her home. She was a lifelong faithful member of Mt.&nbsp;Newell M.B. Church where she served as Youth Choir chairman, Usher board, Pastor&rsquo;s Aide, Choir member &amp; president. She hosted hundreds of programs. She was an active member of the mother board until her death.</p> <p>Louis &ldquo;Valley&rdquo; was married to Lee Willie Jefferson for 57 years until his death on May 5, 2010.</p> <p>Louis &ldquo;Valley&rdquo; Jefferson is survived by eight children: four sons, Sesley (Lois) and Vince E. Jefferson of Red Banks, MS, Wayne&nbsp;R. Jefferson of Byhalia, MS, Willie L. Jefferson of Holly Springs, MS; four daughters, Gail Scales of Red Banks, MS, Carolyn (Roosevelt) Hardaway and Alexus Jefferson of Holly Springs, MS and Stephanie Blake of Olive Branch, MS; two brothers, Oscar (Dorothy) Kinkle of Holly Springs, MS and Robert Kinkle of Maywood IL; two sisters, Earlis Mack of Youngstown,&nbsp;OH, Jeanette (Dean) Barksdale of Holly Springs, MS; four sisters-in-law, Perole Rockette of St. Louis MO, Bertha Jefferson of Red Banks, MS, Shirley Smith of Byhalia, MS, Matilda Nevills of Memphis, TN; she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Willie Jefferson; two sons, Shelden and Goffery Jefferson; one sister, Olivia Bobo; four brothers, Oscar Aldridge, John, Cidell and Odell Kinkle;&nbsp;&nbsp;two sisters-in-law, Betty Williams and Lonnie Black; five brothers-in-law, Andrew Jefferson, John Bobo, Charles Rockett, Charles Black, and Charles Leslie Black; one goddaughter, Shirley Tunstall; a special family friend, Berniece Briggs; 29 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.</p> <p>Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 4-7p.m. at Mt. Newell M.B. Church in Red Banks, MS. Burial will take place at Mt. Newell Memorial Gardens in Red Banks, MS. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.</p>
