Southwest Harbor David F. Mahon, 81, died September 2, 2020 in Bar Harbor. He was born in Peekskill, NY, July 30, 1939 the son of Francis J. and Clare C. (Reardon) Mahon. He received a B.A. degree from St. Michael’s College in 1961 and his M.D. from the State University of New York in Brooklyn in 1965. After internship at the Boston City Hospital followed by two years in the U.S. Air Force, he began his radiology residency at the State University of New York in Syracuse in 1968. He practiced in the medical imaging field for the next twenty-nine years, retiring to Southwest Harbor in 1997. He was active in several professional organizations during his career. A lover of travel, fine wine and golf, he spent extended periods in Ireland. He was quiet, gentlemanly and treasured for his wry humor and steady integrity. He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church in Manset. David was predeceased by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Henry D. Benjamin and Robert R. Pyle. He is survived by sisters, Elizabeth Benjamin of Arroyo Grande, CA and Miriam Pyle of Northeast Harbor; nieces, Bonnie Benjamin of Dollar Bay, MI, and Louise Pyle and husband Christopher Ross-Gill of Philadelphia, PA; nephew, Michael Benjamin of Colorado Springs, CO; several grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10am, Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020 at St. Peter’s Church in Manset with Father Emile Dube as Celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
