Our hearts are saddened as we announce the passing of Lionel Lorenzo Lussier on August 30, 2020 at RUH in Saskatoon at the age of . A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather uncle and friend. Lionel was born to Ernest and Marie Rose Lussier on Aug 15, 1938 in St. Louis, SK. He is survived by his loving wife Blanche; his children: Suzanne Harris (Murray) daughters Nicole (Collin); Melissa (Corey) and Vanessa (Jace); Debbie Lussier (Blake) son Jordan (Bethany); Therese Heagy (Dalas) son Austin (Amber); Jeannette Lussier (Brent) sons Andrew (Tamara) and Spencer (Kelsey); Michele Lussier (Jen) children Chaelynne (Mike) and Taylor; Laura-Lee Trylinski (Chris); step-sons: Chris Gaudet (Tammy) daughters Tanya and Haley; Joel Gaudet (Malisa); Barry Gaudet (Jennifer) children Rachel and Ben; 9 great grandchildren; his brother Roland Lussier (Joyce) and stepbrothers and sisters as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lionel was predeceased by his first wife Dolores (1990), his grandson Adam Heagy (2018); sister Simone, brothers Emile and Claude and his parents Ernest and Marie Rose. Dad had a traditional life leaving school at an early age to assist the family. He married Dolores Beaulieu in 1958 and together they had 4 daughters and one son. Dad had various jobs through his earlier years always open to working in more than one job at a time. He was a mechanic working at Peters Motors and partnered with brother Emile at E and L Services then onto the building of Gardiner Damn. In 1967 he was employed at the new potash mine opening in Allan, SK where he became the underground mechanical supervisor, retiring at 58 years old after 30 years. After Dolores's passing in 1990 he married Blanche Gaudet and became a step-father of three sons in 1994, shortly before his retirement. They had 25 happy years together and made lots of friends and memories. Dad had a terrific sense of humour and a quick tongue always having a comeback for anything that was said which made us all chuckle. His large heart was always open to those who needed to be heard and understood. The grandchildren were very dear to him and he embraced every moment with them. Dad also leaves 9 precious great-grandchildren. Thank you to the men and women of the Coronary Care Unit and 6000 at the Royal University Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion for Dad and our family. A private family Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Church followed by the interment at the Prince Albert Memorial Gardens in the garden of Gethsemanie where he will rest with Dolores. Donations in memory of Lionel, may be made to the MS Society, 2 - 706 Duchess St, Saskatoon, SK S7K 0R3. A celebration of life will be held at a later date post COVID 19. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK. 306-233-4403. Tributes/Condolences can be shared at Kushnerykfuneralservice.com.
