Elena Long, born on August 9, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas to E.H. And Beatrice Williams Cockrum, passed away on September 2, 2020 at the age of 82 in Heber Springs, AR, of complications due to diabetes and dementia. On July 15, 1956 she married her childhood sweetheart, Leo Long. They had a long, happy marriage for 60 years, as her beloved passed away on June 25, 2016. Elena was a lifetime resident of Wilburn where she was active with Cleburne County Home Extensive for many years, an active member of the Wilburn Booster Club, Wilburn School Reunion Committee, and a huge advocate for Wilburn to receive city water. Elena was an accomplished seamstress and quilt maker. As many friends and family are aware of, was her talent for cooking and home processing foods. She was a wonderful woman with many talents. Her biggest accomplishment was being the very best wife, mother and homemaker. Elena was of Baptist faith, and she lived her life being a good example to her children. Elena was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leo, her grandson, Cody Hayes, a son in law, Keith Heigle, her parents, sisters, Joy Etta Moore Wall, and Marie Taylor, and brother Keith Cockrum. She is survived by her brothers, Bernard Cockrum and James Cockrum, both of Sacramento, California. She is also survived by her 4 daughters, Donna (Ricky) Logan, Teresa (Larry) Hitchcock, Audrey (Donny) Harlan, and Danita (David) Hayes. Also, 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Her arrangements are visitation Friday, September 4, from 6 p.m. To 8 p.m. At Olmstead Funeral Home. Gravesite burial service will be Saturday, September 5 at 10 a.m. with Brother Donnie Archer officiating. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and grandsons in law. Ken-Tay Heigle, Bradley Harlan, Morgan Logan, Daniel Heigle, Justin Hayes, Wesley Scoggins, Christopher Nantz and Chris Minton CDC rules for Covid-19 will be in place. Masks must be worn at the visitation and practice social distancing at visitation and burial.
