Willa Dean Carroll, 79, passed away peacefully under Hospice care at NHC Parkwood on September 3, 2020. Willa Dean was born in Roane County, TN to Vinall and Lona Johnson on January 14, 1941.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jerry V. Johnson; a beloved cousin, Norma Jean Cagle and a special maternal figure, Mrs. Lois Justice.

She is survived by her ex-husband and friend, Lloyd R. Carroll; her two children, Myra C. (Larry) Reneau and Zerita (Brian) Brockman; two precious grandchildren, Zebedee and Zoe Brockman; two cousins, Brenda (Johnny) McCamish, Linda (Tommy) Bishop; nieces, Alexis (Bobby) Jenkins and Jennifer Meyer; nephews, Ray and Brian Johnson; sister-in-law, Della Johnson and many other extended family members.

Willa Dean graduated from Spring City High School in 1958. She played the piano beautifully for her church, St. Clair. She was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga (Golden Gateway). She also loved painting and flowers. Willa Dean was a loyal friend. She enjoyed visiting with family, animals and reading.

Willa Dean was a Registered Nurse. She graduated from Erlanger Baroness Hospital in 1961. Over the years, she loved working in psychiatric nursing. She was also a TB nurse and worked at the Health Department and in Home Health.

The family would like to thank Meredith Peterson of Hospice of Chattanooga, Susan Quarles, Pattie Frazier, Felecia Kirkwood, Amanda Beecher and the remaining staff of NHC. These ladies loved her dearly and gave her tremendous care. We are so thankful for each one.

The family will receive friends 11:00 A.M. to 12:15 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2020, services will follow at 12:30 P.M. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas Quisenberry officiating. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Her family wishes to express that they will be following mask wearing requirements and social distancing procedures.
