Olga Byrne

Olga Byrne, 98, passed away peacefully in her home with her family at her side in Naples, FL on August 31, 2020. She is predeceased by her husband, James Byrne, her sister, Jean Kowack and brother Eugene Hutchinson. Olga was born in Philadelphia, PA to Anna and William Hutchinson on November 26, 1921. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY and loved to explore the city by taking long walks with her brother, Eugene, and sister, Jean. She graduated from the State University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1943. She met her husband, James Byrne, while working for Pennsylvania Railroad in New York City. They married on February 9, 1947 and started a life together in Massapequa Park, NY. As their family grew, they moved to Ringoes, NJ. Olga enjoyed twenty seven years of teaching fourth grade at East Amwell Elementary School in Ringoes, NJ - even teaching four of her five children. Olga lived in the Ringoes residence until 1993 when she made the move to the sunnier climate of Naples. Florida. Olga is survived by her five children, Karen Olenick (Charles) of Savannah, GA, Christopher Byrne (Naples, FL), Patricia Byrne (Denver, CO), Michael Byrne (Michelle) of Sergeantsville, NJ) and Timothy Byrne (Deborah) of Ringoes, NJ, loving grandsons Michael and Stephen Maniscalco (Delray Beach, FL), sister-in-law, Yvonne Doris Hutchinson of Utica, NY and many nieces and nephews.. Olga was active in Naples- belonged to the Shells Club, learned to tap dance, volunteered in the Naples Conservancy, ushered for Naples Players Theatre and was honored for beading one hundred thousand rosaries for St. William Catholic Church. Her hobbies included mahjong, quilting, sewing, travel, dancing and walking the beach collecting shells. She also enjoyed solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She will always be remembered for her compassionate heart and beautiful smile that made her striking blue eyes twinkle. She was one of a kind! The best mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt, friend and will forever be in our hearts.
