Gertrude Bennett
<p>Gertrude (Mowery) Bennett, age 83 of Belington, WV went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the home of her son, Walter and Dawn Bennett.</p> <p>She was born June 10, 1937 in Harman, WV and was a daughter of the late Oscar Mowery and Stella Maude (Helmick) Mowery. </p> <p>In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Bennett in 2007; one daughter, Brenda Bennett and all of Gertrude's siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. </p> <p> Mrs. Bennett was a member of Haven of Hope Church in Belington, WV. </p> <p>She is survived by 4 daughters, Betty Turley of Middletown, MD, Kathern Bennett of Mill Creek, WV Sharon Bennett of Mill Creek, WV and Judy Bennett of Maryland; 3 sons, Estel Bennett of Elkins, WV, Walter Bennett and wife Dawn of Belington, WV and Dennis Bennett of Philippi,WV ; 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. </p> <p>A special thanks to Misty Wills for helping with the care of Gertrude. </p> <p>Family will receive friends on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Bennett Cemetery on Spruce Mountain, Onego, WV with Pastors Howard and Benita Swick oflficiating. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, all individuals entering the funeral home will be required to maintain social distance and wear face coverings at all times.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>Obituary
