Edward Thomas McLachlan, Jr.

Edward Thomas McLachlan, Jr., age 80, of Paradise, Michigan, formerly of Allen Park, died Wednesday September 2, 2020. He was born June 30, 1940 in Detroit, to Edward and Pearl (Rivard) McLachlan, Sr. Edward proudly served his country in the U. S. Army, as a Military Policeman. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and spent 2 years stationed in Orleans, France. He married Mary Ellen Stevenson on January 5, 1963 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in River Rouge, Michigan. Mr. McLachlan was an Industrial Engineer, spending his career with Dana Corporation and Ford Motor Company. He was proud to have served for over 40 years as the bookkeeper for St. Mary Magdalen and St. Conrad Catholic Churches in Melvindale, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. McLachlan were longtime, active, devoted members of St. Mary Magdalen Church and Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Paradise, Michigan. Edward was a member of the DADS Club, the choir and many other groups at St. Mary Magdalen. He was an enthusiastic promoter and supporter of the Wild Blueberry Festival in Paradise, the “Wild Blueberry Capital of Michigan”. The McLachlan’s enjoyed spending their winters in Panama City Beach, Florida. Edward was devoted to his family, church and many dear friends. Mr. McLachlan is survived by his wife: Mary Ellen McLachlan; children: Paula (Paul) Sochacki of Canton and Edward M. McLachlan of Davison; grandchildren: Steven Sochacki of Canton and Adam Sochacki of Canton; and sister: Judy Baruzzini of Novi. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Pearl McLachlan, Sr. No formal service will take place at this time, a funeral mass in honor of Edward will take place at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer.
