Doris Catherine Swanson, age 81, of Waterside, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Caribou River, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Rose Falconer. Doris graduated from School of Nursing and received her R.N. Diploma. She fulfilled her nursing career, first in Ontario, and then Pictou where she worked until her retirement. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, socializing and helping others. An amazing loving mother and grandmother and a great love for her family and friends, she will be dearly missed by her sons, William “Bill” Swanson and Bruce Swanson (Wendy White); grand-daughters, Virginia Rose Swanson (Chris Donaldson); Emily Swanson (Aiden Munro); great-grandchildren, Lilly, Ember, and Alister; sister Erma Falconer and brother Cecil Falconer. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by brother Donnie Falconer. A special “Thank You” to the nursing staff of Shiretown Nursing Home and the Aberdeen Hospital. There will be a gathering for family and friends at the Pictou Legion on Wednesday, September 2nd, from 6-8 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Breast Cancer Society or the Nova Scotia Alzheimer’s Society.
