Charles Alfred Siltala was born on May 17, 1942, in Trochu, AB, the youngest son of Matt and Annie Siltala. His early years were spent on the family farm and working on drilling rigs in the off season. Charlie married Harriet Weis on December 12, 1964. They welcomed their first son, Wayne, on June 20, 1965, and their second son, Keith, on January 18, 1968. Charlie was very active, traveling to both son’s hockey games and driving players to many games. Charlie was a member of the Trochu Fire Department for 19 years. He even traveled to Montreal to drive home a new fire truck. He was a member of the Trochu Elks, where he started doing a lot of cooking for Elks functions, including July 1st BBQ’s. This transitioned into a catering business with George Fabian. After retiring from farming, he went to drive for Triple B Trucking. Charlie was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years and a granddaughter; both parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. He passed away peacefully on August 25, 2020, in Red Deer, with his loving family by his side. He reached the age of 78 years. Memorial donations may be made to the Trochu Fire Department. Many thanks go to the staff at the Three Hills Health Centre and the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Charlie is survived by his two sons: Wayne and Keith (Shelly) and grandchildren Zachary and Miranda as well as many other relatives and friends.
