Boyd Barwin, 88, of Groton passed away August 29, 2020 at Avantara Groton. 

Boyd was born November 22, 1931 to Fred and Pauline (Wallman) Barwin of Ortonville, MN.  After graduating from Ortonville high school, Boyd enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Military Police officer.

Boyd raised a family in St. Croix Falls, WI; Boyd Jr. (Cheryl) of Lindstrom, MN, Rebecca (Todd) Ostrom of Reno, NV, Mary (Troy) Bauer of Mondovi, MN and Kristine Barwin of St. Croix Falls, WI.

Boyd was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.  Boyd spent a lifetime doing his passion of working with cars as a mechanic.  He also loved to garden, canning vegetables and chokecherry jelly.

After retirement Boyd came to South Dakota and married his high school sweetheart, Diane Gibbs-Paul on December 29, 2000.  Thankful for sharing this marriage were Diane’s children; Kelly (Lori) Larsen of Thomson, GA, Kim (Dwight) Zerr of Groton, SD, Christopher “Scott” (Kristi) Larsen of Brookings, SD and Jeremy (Jessica) Paul of Pierre, SD, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Boyd also loved his animals and treated them like family and children.

Boyd was a Veteran of the US Air Force and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Groton.  In his spare time, he was always tinkering with his tools, woodwork, gardening, travel and loved any Louis L’Amour western books.

Boyd will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, his wife, Diane, parents, grandparents and friends.
