Robert Keith Gerety, 54, died on August 28, 2020 at AAMC in Annapolis, Maryland. He was the son of the late John and Margaret Gerety. Robert was born on April 22, 1966 in Syosset, Town of Oyster Bay, L.I., N.Y. He moved to Maryland in 1967 due to his father’s job transfer. Robert met his wife, Janet (nee Janet Petrillo) in 1999. They married in 2001 and lived in Crownsville, Maryland. After working at the airlines until September 11th, 2001, Robert pursued his dream of computers and received many computer certificates. He spent the last 20 years of his career in the computer industry. After his family, Robert loved boating and saltwater fishing. He loved spending weekends on his parents 34 foot powerboat, “Tireless”. He was especially excited in 2011 when he got his own boat, “Emma”. One of Robert’s favorite things to do on the boat was crabbing. He has taken many of his friends out on the boat and shown them the ropes of pulling crab traps. In addition to trolling for rockfish from the boat, Robert loved surfcasting off road at Assateague National Park. When he wasn’t out on the boat, Robert loved watching sports, more specifically lacrosse. Robert is survived by his beloved daughter, Talor Nichole Gerety of Glen Burnie, MD, and beloved son, Shaun Robert Gerety of Crownsville, MD. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 19 years, Janet Ann Gerety who passed away on May 14, 2020. A memorial service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to the ALS Association at P.O. Box 37022 Boone, IA 50037 or American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
