Gary Donald Blackmore

1953 – 2020

Gary Blackmore, husband of Joan (Williston) Blackmore of Miramichi passed away at his residence with his family by his side on August 27, 2020 at the age of 66.

Born in Chatham, NB on October 6, 1953, he was the son of the late Frederick W. and Alma M. (Morais) Blackmore.  He was a Photocopy Repairman by trade and a Business Owner of All Decked Out in Miramichi for many years.  He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, was part of the men’s choir and loved to volunteer for different positions in the church.  He was formerly Clerk of Session and Chairman of the church council.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Williston) Blackmore; four daughters: Carrie Lynn Laws (Jim) of Miramichi, Krystal Blackmore of Halifax, NS, Cynthia Chaisson (Joel) of Miramichi and Tiffany Doyle (James) of Miramichi; ten grandchildren: Jordan, Graham, Emilie, David, Grace, Peter, Michael, Pamela, Thea and Fiona; two sisters: Sandra Somers (Harold) of Lyttleton, NB and Irene Dick (John) of Napan, NB; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Predeceased by his parents, brother Raeburn Blackmore, and nephew Dwayne Somers.

As per Gary’s wishes there was no visitation.  A private funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020 conducted by The Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight.  Music for the service was provided by organist Lois McKinnon, with music leadership provided by Bill & Lib Hachey, John Bosma, & Marjorie Cassidy.  Hymns sung included:  “Joyful, Joyful We Adore You”, “Jesus, You Have Come to the Lakeshore”, and the recessional:  “God Be with You Till We Meet Again”.  A memory candle was lit by Carrie Laws & Tiffany Doyle.  Words of remembrance were read by Cyndi Chaisson & Krystal Blackmore.  Scripture readings were read by David & Grace MacLaughlin & The Rev. Ivan Gregan.  Interment was held in Miramichi Cemetery. 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
