Mrs. Sherryl Lynn (Warmath) Wynn, age 75 of Milner, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Brightmoor Hospice.
Sherryl was born in Fresno, California on December 3, 1944. Her parents, Frank Warmath and Theresa Pewett Warmath, precede her in death. Sherryl retired from Spalding County School System where she taught 9th grade Physical Science at Spalding Junior High. After her retirement, she was able to devote more time to her passions which included traveling both domestic and abroad with her close friends and family, spending time with her three grandchildren, and cultivating her flower and vegetable garden. She was active and deliberate in her daily hobbies even through poor health. She could be seen daily walking down College Street listening to her favorite audio book or writing in her journal of her immense love for Christ and family. It was through this love of Christ that Sherryl found her greatest teaching job of ministering the word of God to friends and community members. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Griffin, GA., where she taught and participated in a number of Bible Studies and Sunday School classes. Sherryl was especially active in The Faith Circle women’s group as well as The Seekers Sunday School class with whom she had many close friends and found great fellowship and peace in her final years.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charlie Wynn; daughter, Andrea Cowden and husband, Clay; son, Chuck Wynn; grandchildren, Alice Claire Cowden, Kenna Cowden, Charlie Wynn; sisters, Andrelle Burrus of Martin, TN, Janice Andrews and husband, Bill of Humbolt, TN, Terry Sensing and husband, Andy of Madison, MS; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be Friday, August 28, 2020 at First United Methodist from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. Dr. John Mattox and Rev. Andrew Covington will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Amick Fund of First United Methodist Church of Griffin.
