Betty Jean Stringfellow Hillman, 86, a native of Leakesville, Mississippi and resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Saads Hospice Services. Betty was a homemaker and member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. Betty held many jobs while her husband French attended college. Betty was a secretary for law firms early in their marriage and French’s secretary throughout his career. Betty and family resided in Northern Virginia for 11 years where she enjoyed bowling, TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight loss group, and just being the best Mom ever to her sons. Betty enjoyed her weekly beauty shop appointments while living in Mobile. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends while residing at Atria Regency Senior Living. Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Ida Jane Stringfellow; sister, Hazel Lott; brothers, William Stringfellow and Paul Stringfellow; and her husband of 64 years, French Hillman. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bryan French Hillman (Patty), Daniel Vaughn Hillman (Kimberly) and Michael Scott Hillman (Marilyn); grandchildren, Andrew French Hillman (Crystal), Austin Robert Hillman, Garret Jackson Hillman, Victoria Hillman Jackson (Chet), Scotty Wayne Hattaway (Holly) and Amanda H. Snellgrove (Paul); great grandchildren, Elijah French Hillman, Madilynn Mae Hillman, Abigail Adrian Hillman, Madison Grace Hattaway, Maggie Layne Hattaway, Jorja Morgan Bessada and John Malak Bessada; sisters, Lenora Holowitz (Bob), Mary Jane Herring (Jim), Jonnie Jones (Bobby) and Patsy Stringfellow; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Due to Covid 19, a private family visitation and funeral will be Friday, August 28, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery. Funeral service will be live streamed on Facebook Live for those that cannot attend. A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled post COVID for all to attend. Pallbearers will be Andrew French Hillman, Chet Jackson, Greg de Celle, Robert Lott, Sam Hicks and Sam Hillman. Online condolences may be given at www.freemanleakesville.com.
