<p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Alfonso A. Benavidez, age 50, passed away on August 21, 2020 in Socorro, NM, due to a tragic car accident. He was born on July 30, 1970, in Socorro, New Mexico, to mother Mary Vega. Alfonso was a loving father, son, brother and friend to many. He was a hard worker and took pride in serving as Assistant Chief at the Midway Fire Department. He was always there to help those in need. He always put his family first and would do anything to protect those he loved. When Alfonso wasn&rsquo;t with his family or responding to fires, you could find him cruising the back roads of his hometown, hunting, fishing, or working on the family farm. He always appreciated the little things in life and could make you smile, even on the worst of days. Alfonso loved to dance and there is no doubt that he is dancing up in heaven, watching over us all.</span></span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Alfonso was a member of the Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley Church in Belen, NM, and surrendered his life to God.</span></span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Alfonso is survived by his son, Eric Benavidez; his daughter, Natalia Benavidez; soon to be son-in-law, Kristopher Gonzales; mother, Mary Vega; brother and sister-in-law, Alfredo and Shelley Benavidez; brother and sister-in-law, Lorenzo and Veronica Benavidez; sister, Christina Benavidez and significant other, Richie Tafoya; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.</span></span></strong></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 10 am at Calvary Chapel in Belen, NM. Alfonso A. Benavidez, age 50, passed away on August 21, 2020 in Socorro, NM, due to a tragic car accident. He was born on July 30, 1970, in Socorro, New Mexico, to mother Mary Vega. Alfonso was a loving father, son, brother and friend to many. He was a hard worker and took pride in serving as Assistant Chief at the Midway Fire Department. Alfonso is survived by his son, Eric Benavidez; his daughter, Natalia Benavidez; soon to be son-in-law, Kristopher Gonzales; mother, Mary Vega; brother and sister-in-law, Alfredo and Shelley Benavidez; brother and sister-in-law, Lorenzo and Veronica Benavidez; sister, Christina Benavidez and significant other, Richie Tafoya; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
