<p> Janey Kay Blackwell, 69, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Janey was born December 4, 1950 in St. Louis, MO to Jack E. and Ethel L. (Haupt) Vitt.</p> <p> Janey was raised in St. Louis and graduated from Columbia Hickman High School in Columbia, MO in 1968. Most of her life, Janey worked in the mental health field. She came to Nevada in the early 1970’s and worked for Nevada Mental Health for over 10 years. Janey also lived and in Springfield for a number of years and worked for Burrell Mental Health in Springfield from 2007-2017 before returning to Nevada. She loved her dogs, Cardinal Baseball, Kansas City Chiefs, and Rams football. Janey loved reading mystery books, crocheting, watching mystery shows on TV, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.</p> <p> She is survived by two daughters, Tamara Chiasson (Les), Nevada, and Angela Sousley, Nevada; three grandchildren, Kylee Downen (Shawn), Bellamy, MO, Jennifer Longtine (Brian), Nevada, and Cody Jordan (Amber), Nevada; great-grandchildren, Evan, Michelle, Brantley, Phoenix, Liam, Brady, Zeak, and Ryan; step-grandchildren, Kirsten and Kaleb. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Ronald Conn; an aunt, Katherine Haupt; and an uncle, Ernest Haupt. </p> <p> Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, August 27, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. </p> <p> Memorials are suggested in her memory to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation or Autism Society of America c/o Ferry Funeral Home.</p> <p> </p> <p>***At this time there are no limitations on the number of people attending funerals or visitations, however those in attendance will be asked to maintain social distancing, and that people are welcome to and, indeed, are encouraged to wear face mask to protect themselves and others.</p>Obituary
