Marianne E. Garvey, age 64 years, of the Manomet section of Plymouth, died Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was the wife of Ronald C. Garvey, and the daughter of the late Harold and Pauline (Heina) Thomas. Born on January 11, 1956 in Brockton, Marianne has lived most of her life in Manomet. She worked as a coordinator for the Good Samaritan Hospital, formerly the Goddard Hospital in Brockton. Later she worked as a manager for the Pilgrim Sands Hotel on Warren Avenue in Plymouth and was active in the tourism industry in Plymouth and Cape Cod. She was a member of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce as well as the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. She along with her husband Ron enjoyed traveling from Australia to the Caribbean. Besides being an avid reader and often referred to as a bookworm, a lover of horses and her cats, Marianne cherished spending time with her wonderful friends. She will be missed by her dear husband Ron, and her brothers, Joel Thomas and his wife Jerilynn of Bourne, Kevin Thomas and his wife Louise of Sandwich, and Brian Thomas of Arizona. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul, Peter and H. Michael Thomas. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law Robert Garvey and his wife Maureen of North Attleboro, Richard Garvey and his wife Sandi of Maryland and cousin Judi Broadman and her husband Steve of Needham, and her sister-in-law Marjorie Thomas of Hopedale. With the current restrictions of COVID-19 health crisis, her family has chosen to plan services for a time when people may gather safely to celebrate Marianne’s life. In lieu of flowers.
