Douglas Abbott

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Abbott; beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Doug passed on August 23, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous, two year battle against cancer. Doug was born and raised in Bonavista. He spent over 40 years working in the fishing industry as a plant worker and fisherman. Doug enjoyed his trips to the wharf and Pat will tell you that even on vacation he’d somehow find his way to a wharf in a new community. Doug loved his trips to the coffee shop and watching hockey, but, most of all he loved his family. His grandsons were a treasure to him - poppy’s boys. Doug leaves to mourn his wife, Patricia; sons Steven (Nicole) and Kristopher (Jennifer); grandsons Kaden, Oliver and Ian; brothers, Allan (Linda), Kenneth (Dulcie); sister Joyce (Wilfred); and sister-in-law Vera. He is predeceased by parents Charles and Eva and brother, Cecil. Doug will be forever remembered and sadly missed by a large circle of family and friends.
