George Eugene Kubista

GEORGE EUGENE KUBISTA, age 91 of Waseca, died on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca. Born on May 27, 1929 in Havana Township, Steele County, Minnesota, he was the son of Anton and Helen (Spindler) Kubista. George was married to Alice Hargefeld for a time before they were divorced. He was later married to Lucille Kuyper at her family’s home on December 30, 1972. George farmed for many years and also enjoyed owning and operating Kubista Implement in Waseca before retiring in 1991. He also volunteered as the President of the Pratt Cemetery Board, on the District #2103 School Board, and with the NFO (National Farmer’s Association). He was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. George is survived by his wife, Lucille Kubista of Waseca; one daughter, Brenda (Tom) Marzinske of Janesville; one son-in-law, Sam Giefer of Melbourne, AR; step-children, Stewart (Kathy) Kuyper of Albuquerque, NM, Tom (Karen) Kuyper of Waseca, and Mary (Louis) Born of Winona; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Donna Kubista of Owatonna; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Alice; daughters, Mary Giefer and Debra Kubista; two brothers, Jerome and Bernard Kubista; and one sister and her husband, Irene Smith and Leo Smith. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Father The Hoang officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna
