Roberta C. Lopez Obituary

Roberta C. Lopez peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents: mother Efre Chavez and father Aatagnacio Chavez; siblings: George, Pete and Florentina; children: Josephine, Robert, Rosemary, Anthony and Joseph, and grandson Juan Hernandez, Jr.

She is survived by her children Bernalina Soto and husband Jaime Soto, Roberta Avila and husband Juan Hernandez, Richard Salazar, Willie Lopez and wife Armeda Lopez, Jimmy Salazar and wife Robin Salazar. She is also survived by (at least) 100 grandchildren and great grandchildren combined, a very special sister in law, Irene Chavez, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins whom she greatly loved.

Roberta was always happy and had a smile that lit up any room she entered. In her younger years she loved dancing and entering dance contests in Carrizozo, NM where she once met Chubby Checker and Fats Domino. Roberta loved doing the jitter bug and danced the jitter bug up until her 80th birthday. One of her favorite things in life was having her kids, grandkids and great grandkids together. She was very generous and loved helping her family in any way possible. Some of the best memories were at Mom’s house where she would count her change from her piggy bank to get her grandkids ice cream from the ice cream truck and allowing them to use her utensils to dig in the mud outside.  One of her favorite past times was making green chile and tortillas. Anyone who was lucky enough to have tried her chile and tortillas referred to them as the best they have ever had.

Roberta, her beautiful smile, her green chili and tortillas will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

We will always love and miss you mom.
