<p>Lois Irene Phillips (nee Young) July 9, 1946 &ndash; August 13, 2020 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Phillips on August 13, 2020. Lois was the 5th daughter born to Rod and Myrtle Young. She was born in the car on the way to the Carmen hospital. She was raised on a farm East of Roland and attended school in Roland. Following high school, she worked at the Imperial Bank of Commerce in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was married on July 30, 1966 to Vernon Phillips and recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. After the wedding, they located to Winnipeg until Vern was transferred with Manitoba Hydro to Winker. Gwendolyn Joyce was born there before the family was transferred to Sifton. Michael Brent was born in Dauphin before they permanently moved to Minnedosa where they have resided for the past 47 years. During their time in Minnedosa, she has enjoyed curling, golf, bridge, church, travelling and her many coffee friends. Recently, she was enjoying learning to play the ukulele. She was an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Health Axillary and the United Church. She enjoyed her paid jobs with Welcome Wagon and the Fashion House. Lois was predeceased by her parents Rod and Myrtle, as well as her sister Willene Recksiedler. She is survived by her husband Vern, daughter Gwendolyn (Miguel) Moncayo and their children Dion, Tomas and Mateo; and her son Michael (Tammy) and their children Jannessa and Jordan. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Betty (Dale) Baker, Gaynor Scott, Lorna (Ron) Selley, Mavis Martin and Ron (Heather) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Due to COVID-19, we will be holding a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, Lois and the family are requesting donations to the Minnedosa United Church or the Minnedosa Golf Course.
