The Family of Constance Madeline Morris released their beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother into God’s mighty arms and care, early in the morning on Friday, August 14, 2020. The family gathered to pray, read God’s Word, and worship with Constance for the last time, on this side of heaven. She participated with them gloriously and had a sweet homegoing that encouraged the entire family. She was strong to the end, after living for God faithfully, and serving everyone who came into her care. Nurse Constance as she was known in the Caribbean, was a mother of 7 living children, 7 grandchildren, and 7 living great-grandchildren. Born in Bequia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Constance grew up in Mustique before becoming a student/teacher at a young age, and later a young wife. The family lived on various small islands while her husband was a young principal. Mrs. Morris enjoyed teaching her young daughters, Sylvia and Stacia, the crafts of sewing, crocheting and embroidery. Her boys, Stanley, Jr., Headley (Pete), and Desmond were usually found on the soccer field. All three later went on to represent their country in World Cup and the oldest son is a current Sports Ambassador for his home country. After her sixth child, Sonia was born, she became a nurse and midwife. When her last child, Sherry-Ann was 7 years old, the family moved to the United States, where Mrs. Morris enjoyed working at the Mews (Merry Go Round) and taking care of the residents there immensely. She co-led a Bible Study there for over 20 years and considered it a great privilege to love and share God’s Word with the residents there. Constance is remembered as a woman who prayed much, prayed often, and prayed until things changed. Years ago, when a co-worker’s young son lost his sight, Constance prayed fervently for him. He miraculously regained his sight. However, she was quite upset when the child’s mother did not notify her of this. After much prayer, she always wanted a status on how things stood, because when she prayed, she expected change, she expected her God to move. She always remembered prayer requests and would hound her children for updates on beloved friends who had cried out to her for help. Mrs. Morris was a member of Harvest Time Church where she attended faithfully until she was no longer as mobile as she once was. However, when in full health, she loved, led by example, and prayed for many mothers, wives, children, husbands, and loved ones. She was known to say, “pray until the answer comes.” Lover of the downtrodden, Constance prayed faithfully for those wrongly imprisoned, hurting and sick, the youth of America, missionaries, and countless others. Although challenged at the prospect of not seeing their wonderful mother and receiving her great advice, the family is greatly encouraged to have received so much from her over the years. Also, to know that she is with God, fully restored, and with their beloved husband, Stanley McLean Morris, is extremely comforting. They know she is rejoicing with many of those who went on ahead of her. It can truly be said of Constance Madeline Morris, that she “loved the Lord her God with all her heart, and with all her soul, and with all her mind, and with all her strength,” which is the first commandment. (Mark 12:30) That is why her family, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ, choose to celebrate who she was and still is in Christ. Mrs. Morris blessed and served so many throughout her life. It is now her family’s privilege to endeavor to love and live in a way that honors and celebrates her life, and the many investments made in them. Unfortunately, attendance onsite at the service is limited to family and close friends, given pandemic limitations.
