Larry Byron Jacobs, 77 of Battle Creek, MI passed away on August 11, 2020, at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, MI.

Larry was born on January 30, 1943, in Battle Creek, MI to Russell James and Irene A. West Jacobs.

He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School.

Larry worked as a Printing Pressman at Michigan Carton in Battle Creek, retiring after 33 years.

Larry was drafted into the United States Army on February 23, 1967, and was honorably discharged on October 5, 1968, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Overseas Bars.

He was a very active volunteer and group leader with the Ft. Custer Freedom Hunt.  Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping others with repairs and carpentry projects.  He will be fondly remembered for having never met a stranger and he especially loved talking and sharing stories. Larry was a giving and generous person, a great Samaritan.

Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brenda whom he married on June 16, 1979; his children, Kelly (Mike) Cohen of Potterville, MI and Joe (Elainia) Duffin, of Trussville, Alabama; his grandchildren, Dylan Duffin of Pinson, AL, Crossden Duffin of Trussville, AL and Adam and (Molisa) Cohen of Twin Falls, Idaho, 4 great grandchildren; and, his sister, Marilyn Pierce of Kalamazoo, MI.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Russell (Jim) Jacobs and his sister, Debra Staggs.

A Celebration of Life Service at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, in Battle Creek with burial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, will be held at a later date when COVID restrictions are lifted.
