James (Jimm) Walter Koch Obituary

James Walter Koch “Jimm” died on August 11, 2020, due to extended health issues.  Jimm was born July 13, 1954 in Hardin, Montana.  He attended schools in Hardin, graduating in 1972.  After high school, Jimm traveled around working at various ranches in various locations for many years, until settling in Harrison NE, working at Herren  Bros True Value, where he worked for 26 years until his retirement.  He was known as the livestock and feed specialist at the store.  Jimm was the first to arrive in the morning to start the day.   Jimm stayed busy with a variety of projects, including building cattleguards and other welding projects, assisting neighbors on their ranches, assisting with a mail route, as well as other enterprises throughout his lifetime.  Before Jimm became ill he participated in team roping, enjoyed fishing, shooting clay pigeons, was an avid gardener, planting flowers at his home and at the apartment building where he resided. He enjoyed cards and cribbage with a good circle of friends.  Jimm is predeceased by his father Rudy Koch; survived by his mother, Kathryn, brother Tom, sisters Donna (Pat) Forney, and Maribeth (Randy) Wuertz; nephew Brandon Forney and niece Barrett Sherman; as well as John and Terry Herren and their family, who were like family to Jimm.   He requested that no services be held and he be cremated.
