Lois Irene Ladegard Eagle River, Alaska Obituary

Lois Irene Ladegard

Lois Irene Ladegard (1924-2020) Lois Irene Ladegard passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in her home, on August 4, 2020. She was born in Chadron, Nebraska on November 26, 1924, the daughter of Anna Julia Kobiela and Floyd Butch E Foster. She was married to Paul Henry Ladegard on July 4, 1942 and they had five children. Lois and Paul lived in Ft. Robinson, Nebraska where Paul was a member of the Last Mounted Cavalry of the U.S. Army. When WWII broke out, Paul’s tours took him to Okinawa and Korea. Lois and their children later joined him in Colorado, Washington, France, Kansas, Texas, and finally Alaska. Lois usually found herself alone, moving the 5 children in their Ford “woodie” station wagon from one location to the next and thought perhaps the wives might merit some sort of a medal for their efforts. Upon his retirement, the family remained in Alaska. Lois worked for the Anchorage School District for over 20 years, managing the food service program for East High and several other schools. She was passionate about traveling, gardening, spending time with family, and practicing her faith. Lois was also an avid professional basketball and football fan and knew most of the players on many of the teams. Lois is survived by her 5 children: Paul (Karen), Floyd, Tom (Ricki), Jim (Sharon) and Kathy, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Eagle River where she has been an active member for many years, on Friday August 14th. Due to Covid restrictions, the service will be limited to her immediate family.
