Norma Ivins Watson Obituary

Norma Ivins Watson was born July 10, 1916 in Lorane, Oregon, a town named by her grandmother Lillie Crowe. She passed away at age 104 on August 1, 2020 in Portland after suffering a stroke.

Norma lived on a farm at Lorane until her family moved to West Linn in 1924 to a small farm in the Sunset neighborhood. She was a 1935 graduate of West Linn High School. She continued to live in West Linn until marrying Lloyd C. Watson in 1969. They shared a house in Portland until moving to Holliday Park Plaza in 1991, where Norma was the longest and oldest resident at the time of her death.

Norma started her career as a secretary at the Banner-Courier newspaper in Oregon City. Most of her career was at the Oregon Employment Department in Oregon City. She was active in the Business and Professional Women organization.  She enjoyed gardening and travel. She had visited many countries around the world.

She is survived by nephews Bill Bogynska and David Parmeter and nieces Diane Henwood and Sheryl Engstrom. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, siblings Wanda Parmeter, Lillian Bogynska, Wm. Arden “Ike” Ivins and niece Shelia Ivins.    She was interred at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City. The family asks that donations in her memory be made to the Holliday Park Plaza Foundation or the Salvation Army.
