THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF MARY MCGRATH Devoted her life to nursing and her family WATERBURY - Ms. Mary Elizabeth McGrath, age 88, of Naugatuck, CT, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Glendale Health Center. Mary was born on May 26, 1932 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late John McGrath and Elizabeth (Horan) McGrath. She was educated in local schools and graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing. She then received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Connecticut. Mary worked her entire career at St. Mary’s Hospital, for many years in the Maternity Department and then as a Nursing Supervisor until her retirement. Mary was a wonderful nurse and a caring and compassionate person. Mary enjoyed traveling to Maine and Cape Cod with her family and friends. One of her favorite things to do was dine out with friends and she was a well-known patron of many local restaurants. Mary will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. She is survived by her cousins, Joan and Beth Anne Coviello, Sean Krueger, and Lauren Wiganowske of Manchester, CT and Susan Corden of Virginia. She also leaves many dear friends and relatives. The family gratefully acknowledges Mary’s dear friend, Maureen Taylor as well as the staff of the Glendale HealthCenter for the many years they provided care, love and support with Mary. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 10:00am, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Anthony’s Church, Prospect, CT. All those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. In lieu of flowers and to honor Mary’s memory, donations may be made to DEBRA, Inc., 75 Broad Street Suite 300, New York, NY 10004.
