Katherine L. Shambo Obituary

Katherine L. Shambo, 57, lifelong resident of Enfield and beloved wife of Kevin Shambo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Born in Hartford, CT on March 22, 1963, she was the daughter of Aurora (Esparza) Foxx and the late Joseph Foxx, and was raised in Enfield with her 5 siblings. Katherine graduated from Springfield Technical Community College and fulfilled her lifelong passion and calling of being a nurse. She was fulfilled every day of her career by helping people who were sick while working at several area hospitals, mainly Baystate Medical Center. Katherine’s nature was to care for people and she did an incredible job of it. She loved to travel and see the world, she loved to sing, connect with friends and strangers, and was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring daughter, sister and friend to all who knew her. A light has extinguished in this world but the memories and love she gave live on through every person she touched. She fought breast cancer twice with vigor, strength, and dignity, and was a champion for cancer survivors and attended any charity walk or event she could. She was a Friend of Bill’s. Her memory lives on with her mother, Aurora Foxx; her husband Kevin Shambo; her two daughters, Teara and Lauren Shambo; her siblings, Valerie Wolgast, Patricia Foxx, Jeffrey Foxx, Doreen Heredia, and John Foxx; many nieces and nephews; countless friends; and her adored pets, Autumn, Raikou, Cloud, and Ruka. Her family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, from 4-7 PM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, August 15, at 10 AM at the funeral home. SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT THE FUNERAL HOME. Attendance may be limited to adhere to Executive Order limitations and for public safety. Burial will be private at a later date for family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Katherine’s memory to Rays of Hope, 280 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01107. For online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com.
