Joy Bell Rice

Joy Bell Rice, 84, of Greendale, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at her home. She was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on October 22, 1935 to Lucille Taylor Bell and Newton Bell. She grew up in Sparta and attended Moores Hill School. She was married to Eccles Rice, Sr. for 60 years until his passing in 2016. Joy loved having family gatherings at her home, the more the merrier. She loved her family, her church, and traveling to Phoenix, AZ, even living there for a few years. Joy is survived by two sons, Eccles Rice, Jr. (Suzy) of Greendale and Ted Rice (Doug Bloomfield) of Cincinnati, sisters Barbara Benning and Carolyn Schube, grandchildren, Sarah Fine (Alex), David Rice (Angela), and Mary Rice, great-grandchildren Julia Chambers, Mary Gwen Fine, and Katie Fine. Joy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, George Bell and Sheila Bell DeLonjay. Family and close friends will be gathered from 11 am to 12 pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Fitch Denney Funeral Home and a service at 12 pm. Burial will follow at Greendale Cemetery.
