Patricia Marie “Pat” Smith, 59, of Frostburg, MD, died Sunday, August 9, 2020, at her home.

Born August 28, 1960, in Meyersdale, PA, she was the daughter of Joan M. (Bowman) Oester, Grantsville and the late William C. Oester.  She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rachel.

Pat was employed as a registered nurse, beginning with Frostburg Community Hospital for 15 years, then Sacred Heart Extended Care for 10 years and completing her career at Frostburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 13 years.  “Nursing was a huge part of who she was”.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, LCMS, Cove, Accident, MD, where she served as church organist.

Surviving are her husband, Marsh G. “Smitty” Smith; two sons, Joshua Smith, Bethesda, MD; Aaron Smith, Frostburg; one brother, Rev. James Oester, Accident, MD; two sisters, Donna Pope, Mt. Savage and Brenda Kucharczyk, Frostburg.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm.  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at 11:00 am, at St. John's Lutheran Church, LCMS with the Rev. James Oester officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pat's strength came from her devout love of God. She never wavered in showing her love for her parents and siblings. Her husband and sons were the center of her life and she cherished every moment with them. Her love of nursing extended to her compassion for the many patients she cared for over the years.
