Judith Jean Thompson Obituary

Well, I did it! I lasted until August 8, 2020!! Judith Jean Thompson (Miller/Brainerd) born 12/4/37 and I lived a darn wonderful life until Breast Cancer, for the third time, hit me, and I said “enough!”

Attended a great school at Pius XI in Milwaukee, married Robert Brainerd, Sr. in 1959 (husband + father of my two wonderful sons, Robert, Jr. and Scott Brainerd). Married David Thompson in 1974 and retired to Door County in 1984, wintering in Tucson, Arizona. Divorced in 1991, but remained in Sturgeon Bay to enjoy working at DJ’s On The Bay and Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club. Proud member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute, member of two choirs, and a volunteer at Door County Medical Center.

I had great friends from all over the country, including campers and singers + gal friends who enjoyed our wine at The Lodge with Willy!

I leave my family: sons, Bob and Scott, daughter-in-law, Melissa; Grandson, Bo; Cousin, Bonnie; Niece, Kris; Brother-in-law, Jerry Lewin; and my late sister, Nancy, to take care of my garden and other “stuff” now that I’m not there to watch over it. Know that I’ll be thinking of you all with love and thank you for coming into my life. Stay together and love one another. All the goodies, memories, and delicious food and friendship we shared was so fun!

Special thanks to Door County Medical Center - from everyone I smiled at and got a return smile, you all know how much you meant to me, to my neighbors at Windermere, where I had a ball living for 22 years, to my neighbors on Walnut Drive. Simply THE BEST Mary and Joe Halada, Jennifer and Andrew Ellenbecker, Kathy W, Mary Van Den Bogart, Choir members - Cheryl Pfister and company, Catholic Church members. Dog and Cat lovers - Be kind + love one another, I’ll wait for you all! And the champions on my medical team...Dr. Hogan, Dr. Palines, Dr. Reitz, Erik (PA), the entire second floor nursing team, respiratory shifts who kept 24 hour watch over me, and hospice care team. Blessings to Father Bob J. Hauser. Hugs to you all!
