Barret Glenn Muir Obituary

Muir, Barret Glenn – It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Barret Muir announce his passing. Surrounded by his family, he passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 6, 2020. Barret was born on May 28, 1984 in Sussex, NB. He was the son of Mary Joynes and David Muir.

Known to many as “Bull” due to his boundless mental and physical strength, Barret was a force to be reckoned with and faced every challenge with optimism, courage, and grace. Whether he was hunting the largest buck, hitting the farthest drive, dropping the gloves on the ice, racing anything with a motor, knowing when to hold ‘em or fold ‘em, or learning to adapt to a new life confined to a wheelchair, he was determined, committed and accomplished anything that he set his mind to.

Barret loved his people fiercely, always putting his family and friends first. He treasured family gatherings and game nights, social time with friends and most of all, quality time with the love of his life, his precious Myellie. Even when he felt unwell, he always made time for his people. He enjoyed his work, both farming and mining, and most of all finding deals with his dad.

Barret never let his disability define him. He truly lived his life to the fullest and was an inspiration to many who knew him. Barret beat the odds time and time again and did so without complaint, always thinking of others. He taught us all that life can change in an instant and to never take anything for granted.

His time on earth may have been cut short, but the impact he made created waves that will be felt by others for years to come.

Barret is survived by his father David Muir (Lori), mother Mary Joynes (Dave), daughter Myellie Muir, sister Krystal Boyd (Tyler), brothers; Jeremy Muir (Jacklyn), Jamie Moses (Katalin), grandfather Mansel “Papa,” step siblings; Steven, Mitchell, Katie and Gillian, his nieces and nephews; Landan, Oliver, Avery, Emmersyn, Layne and Elynora, special friends; Jeff, Jane and Lindsay and her boys.

If you wish, donations may be made in memory of Barret to the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, or a charity of your choice. https://www.stancassidy.ca/
