Mr. Fred Isaac Skinner, Sr., age 97, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away July 21, 2016 in University City Forest Manor in St. Louis, MO. He was a native of Bloomfield, born October 31, 1918 to Benton and Gertrude Wells Skinner. He was a retired custodian and bus driver for the Nelson County Board of Education at Bloomfield High School, a member of the Bloomfield 2nd Baptist Church where he was a deacon and trustee, a member of the Bloomfield Cemetery Board, and a member of the Bloomfield City Council where he served two terms from 1978-1981. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Skinner (December 2009) and his son, Fred I. Skinner, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Rae (Joe) Rice of St. Louis, MO., 3 grandchildren, David Berryman, Tiffany (Marcus) Wallace, both of St. Louis, Damien Skinner of Washington, DC., and 5 great grandchildren. Bloomfield 2nd Baptist Church at 145 Hill Street will host his visitation at 11:00 am Saturday, August 6, 2016 followed by a home going service at 12:00 noon. Rev. Joseph Marshall will officiate. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
