James Blakey, age 60, of Quincy, IL passed away at 1:25 am Saturday, August 8, 2020, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia, MO. Pastor Darrel Wiser will officiate.

A memorial gathering celebrating the life of James Blakey will be held at 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Wednesday August 12, 2020 at the Waters Funeral Home.

The public is welcome to attend the memorial services for James but due to Covid-19 we are asking you follow social distancing guidelines. Please stay six feet apart and avoid close contact. Anyone in attendance is encouraged to wear a mask or other personal protective equipment.

James was born on August 4, 1960, in Hannibal, Missouri the son of James and Willa (Bishop) Blakey.

Survivors include his daughter, Marisa (Brian) Stroub of O'Fallon, MO; two sisters, Jacqueline Horton of St. Louis, MO, Joyce Horton of Kansas City, MO; two nephews, Steven Horton and Jamal Horton and many other loved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two cousins, Valeria Wiser and Carol Fisher.

James graduated from Hannibal High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He worked in the road construction industry.

He enjoyed flying remote control helicopters and auto mechanics. James never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with people.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Waters Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
