Mary Blanche Tewalt, 67, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted caregiver Toni Ryan and her family. Mary was born January 15, 1953 in Washington, D.C., to the late James Tewalt and Solange DeJoux. Mary worked as an archival framer with independent artists and businesses. This love of the arts led her to become a member of Dancing Paper Studio. Mary was also a creative display artist with The National Gallery of Art in Washington for 20 years. She spent her adult life between her mother’s farm in Lyon, France and Capitol Hill, where Mary was often recognized while walking her mastiff, Chloe’. Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Christophe DeJoux, and her Italian Grey Hound, KiKi. She is survived by her sister, Katherine Lugenbeel, and the close friends she leaves behind in Washington, D.C. and Mississippi. They will all miss her quirky and wonderful personality, which will always hold a special place in their hearts. A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2020 at the Ryan family home located at 1801 East Belle Fontaine Road, Ocean Springs, MS, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplin Jim Kirkendall officiating.
