George H. Woods Jr.

Mr. George Henry Woods Jr., age 72, of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at his residence.

A native of Houston Heights, Mr. Woods was born Sept. 22, 1947, to parents LaVerne Lowe Woods and George Henry Woods Sr. and had lived in the Broaddus area for a number of years. He had worked as a millwright at a paper mill before retiring and was also a great carpenter--George found great joy in building various projects. 

George was an avid fisherman and always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved spending time in his meat room and always happy to offer help to anyone in his life.

His survivors include his son, Mark Woods and wife Renee of the Chinquapin community; daughter, Lisa Holub and husband Gary of Katy; granddaughters, Amber Fletcher and husband Brett of Broaddus, and Caitlin Woods and Naomi Woods, both of Chinquapin; grandsons, Trevor Woods and Trent Woods, both of Chinquapin, and Tanner Holub and Bailey Holub, both of Katy; great-grandsons, Andrew Sullender and Alex Sullender, both of Broaddus; a great-granddaughter, Evangeline Fletcher of Broaddus; and his sisters, Lynda Goodnight of Pearland, and Teresa Turner and husband Richard of Broaddus.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Henry Woods Sr., in 2014; and his mother, LaVerne Woods, in 1991.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Broaddus Pentecostal Church, located at 1402 Hwy. 147 South in Broaddus.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, at Broaddus Pentecostal Church with Pastor Mark Green officiating. Interment will follow at Broaddus Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Trevor Woods, Trent Woods, Brett Fletcher, Gary Holub, Bailey Holub, and Tanner Holub. Honorary pallbearers: Andrew Sullender and Alex Sullender.
