William “Bill” Russell, 85, of Thompsonville, passed away at 3:30 A.M. on Saturday August 8, 2020 at his residence. He was born May 10, 1935 in West Frankfort to Donald Russell and Dorothy ( Boker ) Russell. He was married to Betty ( Mabry ) Russell and she survives.
Besides his wife Betty, he is also survived by 3 daughters, Robin Melvin and companion Luther of Marion, Dorothy ( Joe ) Ruzich of Benton and Karen Drage of Champaign, Illinois, two sons, Bill (Amy ) Russell of West Frankfort and Chris Russell of West Frankfort. Also surviving are 3 step daughters, Tina Bymaster, Teressa ( Gerald ) Downs and Tracey (Matt ) Weidner all of West Frankfort and two step sons, Eddie (Lori ) Stoner of DuQuoin and Tony (Amy ) Stoner of West Frankfort and several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a brother, Jim Russell of West Frankfort, and a half sister, Kay Colvin of Columbus, Ohio
He was preceded in death by his parents
Bill was the former owner of Frank Russell and Son Trucking Company in West Frankfort for many years and was a former member of the West Frankfort Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Rev. Toby Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Boner Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 P.M. Noon on Sunday at the funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
By order of the Governor of the State of Illinois, it is recommended that 50 or less people be in attendance for services and visitation at the funeral home.
